[Works] BudakPantai.com

It’s towards the end of the year, and I’m glad it ends with this interesting project that started of as an experimental ground for the illustrator and for me as well, to play with scripts and performance control in a Flash site using Actionscript 3.0. The site is packed with lots of juice and preferences or settings are controlled through external XML(s).

You can go to the site now at : http://www.budakpantai.com

While I only take care of the implementation and backend for the site, I’m delighted on how it turned out in the end, performance and aesthetically speaking. What do you think?

Things that I can think of in implementing the comment system :

  • Take existing XML guestbook script
  • Modify it and revise it to use with Flash
  • Flash takes in the chunk of the XML structure from the existing file, holds it to the memory, and if user inputs new data, combine old with new data
  • and sends the whole chunk of data as raw POST data
  • on the server side, a php file will do the dirty job in saving the POST data as .xml file.

[Works] DiGi 360 @ SoHo KL

It may been a long time since I’ve even updated things related to work, due to the pile of work coming in at times. Somehow this time around, I’m sorta delighted it kind of come to an end (for now). This project roughly runs for an about 2 month less to completion, I could say nothing less than being stunned by the speed. lol.

Over the last weekend, had a chance to go over the actual store for the official launch at SoHo KL, Mont Kiara. The project is actually a brand new concept store focused on providing the best new experience in mobile retail shopping. That goes from everything touchscreen based interaction, to even a different and unique queue system where you don’t really need to stand in line to wait for your queue, but to go all around the store to play while let the customer service personnel to find you. Sounds cool, and it really does too.

Had a chance to stumbled across this showroom at Plaza Damas.

The good ol’ Plaza Damas

At the launch

The venue itself.

21112008005.jpg
One of the attraction inside, an interactive game which is based on touchless motion where you wave onto the screen to interact with the objects. Think, minority report? There’s about 4 game that you can go around and play with for now, more will come later in later stages.

21112008007.jpg
This is another unusual and out of the box interactive system where you can browse for offers and features the mobile company is offering through a touch screen interface. And yes, you can play around with the dangling items, and throw them around.

One of the most interesting feature inside the DiGi Wall, the DiGi story.

It seems like it’s pretty “WONG” (lucky) at that area.

21112008015.jpg

21112008016.jpg
And there’s a massive aquarium on the second floor.

All’s good is good. Actually I’m pretty delighted (once again) that to get to do this kind of project out of the ordinary loop of website design and same old stuff. Be sure to check out the place if you have time.

What’s before that?

This is how it looked like on the outside at night.

dscf8169.jpg
And this is probably one or two months before the launch.

dscf8170.jpg
Right on the strategic place, the roundabout in this area.

dscf8172.jpg
And if you walk right behind the store, you can get to see this massive highway that I had no idea where it leads to.

dscf8173.jpg
Some work in progress scene.

And right nearby there’s also some interesting Italian cuisine. I couldn’t really remember the name, something like “Brassierre….?”

Testing has been like part of our lives.

And that should be it. If you by any chance interested to work on this kind of project and wants someone to collaborate. I’m more than happy to be a part of it :)

[Art] Sabun Flower

It has been a long while I’ve posted any new work, or art regarding to any event. But this time around, back from China, I’m really to be invited by JustLife , commissioned by them to do this Soap Art. Well, what is the idea behind? To use organic materials for your daily use items. Of course this soap is made entirely from materials you find on the farm, organically. Coconut oils…etc etc. I tried to find the pictures where the initial cooking of the soap, but to no avail, probably will update this post again when I get a hold of the pictures. Till then, it’s the production process of the entire soap art. :D Hope you’ll enjoy it. You’ll probably able to see it life in Ikano Power Centre, at one of the JustLife’s shop which they’ll publicly displays all the other designer’s soap there.

The Beginning

dscf5007.JPG
Raw round soap cooked. Made from Green tea, spirulina and coconut oil. That is supposingly a mark from burning the soap with hot metal, it didn’t work like I intended it to be, so I resorted to just cutting/carving the shape.

dscf5011.JPG
It’s pretty soft at this point as well due to the initial process of making the soap that I didn’t do it very well.

dscf5012.JPG

dscf5013.JPG
Finalizing the shapes and trimming.

dscf5008.JPG

It took quite an amount of patience and concentration because you might end up cutting away half of the petal if you are not careful of what you are doing.

dscf5014.JPG

Petals up close.

dscf5015.JPG
And I was told that the remainings can be recycled again! By slow-cooking it again in a container/slow cooker. and I’ll be able to shape it once again. That’s awesome.

Box Art

dscf5292.JPG
And next should be the box art that will be put together with the display. Supposingly, I had a floral theme in mind that later it evolved into something…I’m not quite sure what it is.

Outlining and inking.

Ta-daa! It’s completed! Thanks again for reading and hope to see you in Ikano if you do drop by. It will be on display until Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Oh, sorry if I didn’t mention that you can view this piece in a larger size by clicking on the picture.
