The Gaming of Doom

Alrite, this is just probably another rant you’ll see from me regarding the issues on PC gaming. Why? Because it’s a neverending cycle it seems. Newer technology, newer Directx, new graphic card, that leads to new cpu, new monitor, new ram, new mother…fucker…

I’m pissed not because I’m just a whiner, but I couldn’t just look and accept the fact a piece of plastic costs R.M. 2,500 for gods mother sake to play computer game that ought to give you BSOD at any time. I mean, you can see that everything seems to go down the drain where you can’t see any innovative game that makes you go wow omg. But instead, well, for the price you pay for an original game does not justify for its quality.
See the point?

It’s all set back to the point where it’s not about good game-play anymore but to brag about how an engine can perform to simulate physics, I guess this good old custom starts strongly from around the HL2′s era, well, that’s what I think. I was strucked and had this strong to post and whine about this when I heard there’s rumour circulating about possible announcement of Starcraft. Well, I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad, since there are still more than half of the starcraft lover wouldn’t want the legend to be spoiled by a lame sequel. I mean, is there any game that carries the name that people remember for more than 10 years? Starcraft is here to come. Do not count Warcraft since it’s already on its third instalment. Half Life you say? They barely made it. Though I thought they would took away the long lasting fame that starcraft had for so long.
It’s dying away so badly I can see. Looking at how it seems, the heat is not at hot like how Half Life did previously where mods surfacing like mad cow diseases with no end, continuously creating more legends of FPS games like CS, DoD and more which most of them end up as a standalone game, opened a whole lot of possibility and chances to small game makers. Far Cry since then, took the cake from HL2, and Source Engine…what?

Besides of Crysis taking up the hype for next-gen pc gaming, I couldn’t any other game that could catch up with the wind. Or is there any? C&C which is pretty much screwed up after Westwood are ruined down the drain. And that’s a good reason why Starcraft is still inside the list of WCG tournaments. Need For Speed? It has always been arcadish, so there’s not much to be discussed. Even without any reason, DotA which has always been the most over-played game today in PC gaming are chosen not because of it’s graphic but the idea of the gameplay behind which has constantly evolving. From a map up to a level which is to be used for tournaments.

I’m not sure if these game makers really get what we really want. Or just want to squeeze out more cash from us. Online game has its own piece of fantasy world, that just seems to evolve on its on world. Doesn’t fit me in. Still the same, slash slash slash level level level buy card buy card buy card farm item item item item and bot bot bot bot.

I guess I hated the fact when I knew this is all screwed up by the Steam which ruined most of the experience that you won’t see as much of servers surfacing like how it did last time. I mean, for anti piracy’s sake, it’s understandable, but being ignorant towards how much hassle a game lover has to go through playing a game, logging in and out a retarded system, it’s stupid. Looking at all the fact that when I mean there’s no innovative game for PCs besides bragging for faster and bigger resolution game, AA, AF, i mean, fuck this. If there’s anyone to care to pay for R.M. 10,000 for a machine that would last for only like, what? 2 month? And then they announce that, “oh, sorry, we’re announcing our latest ground breaking technology which will be some omgbbqlolwtf–ZTX form factor” and all of your hardware you bought will be obsolete realizing that all the while the technology they’re researching on are on the wrong side.
Talking about white mice experiment, who’s to blame?

The trend’s changing, more and more gamer are shifting back to consoles which they hope that the good hard earned money spent will last them for another 5 years like how Sony did for their previous 2 consoles the psone and ps2.
Gaming in PC? Tell me, how many time in your life as an average joe, which always hope to play the latest omglolwtf game without a lag and random restarts? With hoping so much that you at least would run probably Crysis in the next half year. You’re looking at games like, build build build destroy destroy destroy, yay win. level level level level kill kill kill item item item yay win. shoot die shoot die shoot die. What else?!

It’s connectivity that counts at this time. Wii comes out as innovative like no one else, but the hype soon dies off sooner than everyone had thought. A sad cause, but I guess gamer still wants a piece of an online gaming feature. 360? It’s bang for the buck now, but the reasons been holding me from purchasing is the replay value since of some many weird problem plaguing the console itself.
It’s not a privilege to play games anymore, it’s a stress. I’ve lost faith in gaming. Till then.
