[Travel] Random Airy Rant

Perhaps one of the most wonderful thing in life that we tend to agree on, is we never expect what to come next, though even if it’s being predicted. This happens to me when I was on a flight back to work from the LCC Terminal in Sepang, Kuala Lumpur?(or Selangor?)

Broga Hill, one of the many interesting things I have ever bumped to, in my life. And did I mention it’s my first time in mount hiking? Perhaps something for me to except for towards things in the future that I want to do. I’m pretty glad to joined into this trip. More to come!

Update 26th February 2009 :
I’ve uploaded pictures and my thoughts on the entire trip at : Broga Hill

Hey 2009! Bye 2008!

addict

It’s supposed to be the first post of the year, however, due to the previous one, this is the second for this year! Anyway, happy new year that all is well, good is good and bad is bad (What the hell I’m trying to say). 2008 certainly does sounds an auspicious year for Chinese, the word eight(8) symbolizes luck in their native language, however reality differs so much from the fantasy world.

There is so much, and too much to be recalled of the indicents that is happened throughout this year, not only to ourselves, but also to people around us, around the world, terrorism, toxified milk, earthquake…and more. For me, 2008 has been tripled of what a rollercoaster ride can give me, or maybe even more. I guess learnt from experience on how difference people is at different places, especially country and culture. While most of my life were spent back then in my home country, this year somehow is different where I’ll have to embrace myself with a lot more of new thing, new people, new colleague, new housemates and so on. I can of course first say it’s a blessing to have such a chance to travel to this place for work, but on the other hand, everyone also understand this comes with a price, of letting go things back to what we are used to in our lives.Foods, friends, cars, entertainments…

Though I’m not yet really prepared for this brand new year, I’ll keep on stand strong and wait for upcoming challenges. Though at this point of time, there’s a usual saying back in Malaysia, that the first 5 year of a designer is almost like learning to swim, either after that period, we’ll get drown, or give up or we swim further down deep into the beautiful and mysterious sea. Good luck and all the best to you. Cherish the people around you. I mean it. And as people gets busier, we neglect all the small little things that builds up to something that we can never imagine, bond between friend that breaks, trust between family members that’s gets worse. If you see me at the street, do say hi! I’ll shout HOI! :)

And not to forget, my portfolio has been refreshed with new works throughout this year, though there’s still some more work I would like to put in, yet to collect enough material at this point.

Travelling Distances In Life

Perhaps the stretch of months between September towards November would be the quiet-est moment in my blog, which could be that it’s a good or a bad thing altogether. It may look like I’m living a good happy life or on the other way around. But I still owe my readers apology for not updating even often. Work wise, I would say, a steady progression has made its way throughout the entire year until now. Lots of thing were done, while none of them would stands out spectacularly among the crowd, but at least I can say, I’ve learnt. The hard way. With a blink of an eye, a year is again reaching towards its end!

Round round merry go round

dscf8089.jpg
Had a chance to go towards the Singapore Flyer, and dinner on one of the Japanese restaurants. Tastes…normal.

dscf8095.jpg
And during the period of time is coincidentally are the Lunar festivals for the Chinese. Thus the lantern, autographed lantern.

dscf8096.jpg

dscf8099.jpg
And the amount you have to pay is pretty hefty too! Note to HSBC card users, that you will entitle for a free ticket if you purchase one by the card! That’s really good huh.

dscf8100.jpg
On the way towards the platform.

dscf8101.jpg

dscf8103.jpg
And unlike the usual one you see, this will be able to fit at least 20 people in one cabin, which you could actually opt for a private-cabin, but it would cost a bomb. I wouldn’t understand if anyone wants to have dinner inside these.

dscf8117.jpg

dscf8120.jpg

dscf8130.jpg
That’s the Singapore’s Marina Bay.

dscf8134.jpg
And right below is the casino that is still under construction.

dscf8135.jpg
Some interesting setup just right below the flyer.

dscf8138.jpg

dscf8141.jpg
Guess the lamp riddles? It’s really almost a cultural tradition for Chinese to have these activities during the eve of the Lunar festival where people will exchange different riddles just for the fun of it.

dscf8143.jpg

dscf8147.jpg

dscf8148.jpg
This is located at The Central, Clarke Quay.

dscf8149.jpg
It’s a cat…apparently.

dscf8151.jpg
And I assume this is suppose to be rooster?

dscf8153.jpg
And while most of the decors are interesting, this one seems to attract people or tourists around due to its depiction of history’s one most memorable moment where in “Chi Bi” (The Great Red Cliff War), ZhuGe-Liang diverted the enemies attention towards fake decoys and reuse their own arrows back towards themselves!

I had no idea what does the words on top means?

Thunder Tea!

dscf8184.jpg
It may strike as odd for a person like me to understand and appreciate this dish which is not really mainstream, which is literally known as “Thunder-Tea” which combines several spices and a lot of different vegetables mixed with a bowl of cold mint soup.

dscf8185.jpg
This shop is located right behind Berjaya Times Square along the stretch of shops that has seafoods around. Not sure about the name of the shop though. Somehow if you do like this kind of dish, you might also would be interested in trying out Vietnamese food which might strike some resemblance to you.

dscf8186.jpg
Look! Leg-less!

Playing the game for the name

dscf8190.jpg

While I have been working roughly close to a year, where it’s not closely related to education, but more towads advertising, it’s natural that I will need to somehow get tied to things like this, award ceremony and meeting people or socializing.

dscf8192.jpg
Well to be exact, this would be the first time I’ve attended this and I’ve not sure what to expect out of this though.

dscf8193.jpg

dscf8195.jpg

dscf8196.jpg
The peoples inside the award ceremony is made out of lots of different type of people though, and some familiar faces as well.

dscf8199.jpg

dscf8201.jpg

dscf8203.jpg

dscf8204.jpg
And though this may always be the best when you garner lots of award and fame as one, however as for me, most probably things like this will still be out of reach on my interest where I’d prefer to make good work, but not much of making out good network from talking and attending events. I think that’s what in my thought at that moment. Commercially speaking, it would seem earning more and more awards that a hand can even hold would be most profitable solution, but do you think so as well as an individual? How does it help a designer? To even get into this kind of scene without stepping your leg into the ‘advertising’ scene?

What’s been cooking daily?

And speaking of passing times, I had moved to a new place to stay as my rent contract has ended prematurely due to the main tenant is moving out of the country. Sad but had to deal with it.

dscf8216.jpg
Though this place seems dodgy and not as interesting as it should be at first, I got kind of used to it after a while.

dscf8219.jpg
Had to take buses and MRT at once to reach to desired destination though.

dscf8221.jpg
And finally had a chance to chill at this place known as East Coast Park where tons of locals will come to this place to chill over the weekend, from eateries, to roller blading, to cycling to even…camping in the city…

dscf8222.jpg

dscf8231.jpg
One of the local KTV in town.

dscf8233.jpg
Prices are pretty hefty of course if you convert it directly.

dscf8234.jpg
This is known as one of the most famous pig-organ stall in Singapore. Located near in between Bugis and Lavender.

dscf8235.jpg
If you are by any chance pass by this road named Jalan Besar, you might stumble across this shop. It opens until 5am in the morning.

dscf8236.jpg
New rooms, new housemates.

dscf8237.jpg
Potluck party as well!

dscf8239.jpg
While it’s been a month, but one of my colleague had a chance to go over to GuiLin in China for some wedding preparation/honeymoon. Took something back as souvenir.

dscf8240.jpg
This one looks dodgy at first…

dscf8241.jpg
And tastes really dodgy as well :D

dscf8243.jpg
I think it’s made out of flour and…flour.

dscf8247.jpg
Back in Malaysia where it’s more common to see weird and interesting shape of clouds. Strippy clouds this one it seems.
