[Works] DiGi 360 @ SoHo KL

It may been a long time since I’ve even updated things related to work, due to the pile of work coming in at times. Somehow this time around, I’m sorta delighted it kind of come to an end (for now). This project roughly runs for an about 2 month less to completion, I could say nothing less than being stunned by the speed. lol.

Over the last weekend, had a chance to go over the actual store for the official launch at SoHo KL, Mont Kiara. The project is actually a brand new concept store focused on providing the best new experience in mobile retail shopping. That goes from everything touchscreen based interaction, to even a different and unique queue system where you don’t really need to stand in line to wait for your queue, but to go all around the store to play while let the customer service personnel to find you. Sounds cool, and it really does too.

Had a chance to stumbled across this showroom at Plaza Damas.

The good ol’ Plaza Damas

At the launch

The venue itself.

One of the attraction inside, an interactive game which is based on touchless motion where you wave onto the screen to interact with the objects. Think, minority report? There’s about 4 game that you can go around and play with for now, more will come later in later stages.

This is another unusual and out of the box interactive system where you can browse for offers and features the mobile company is offering through a touch screen interface. And yes, you can play around with the dangling items, and throw them around.

One of the most interesting feature inside the DiGi Wall, the DiGi story.

It seems like it’s pretty “WONG” (lucky) at that area.

And there’s a massive aquarium on the second floor.

All’s good is good. Actually I’m pretty delighted (once again) that to get to do this kind of project out of the ordinary loop of website design and same old stuff. Be sure to check out the place if you have time.

What’s before that?

This is how it looked like on the outside at night.

And this is probably one or two months before the launch.

dscf8170.jpg
Right on the strategic place, the roundabout in this area.

dscf8172.jpg
And if you walk right behind the store, you can get to see this massive highway that I had no idea where it leads to.

dscf8173.jpg
Some work in progress scene.

And right nearby there’s also some interesting Italian cuisine. I couldn’t really remember the name, something like “Brassierre….?”

Testing has been like part of our lives.

And that should be it. If you by any chance interested to work on this kind of project and wants someone to collaborate. I’m more than happy to be a part of it :)

[Works] Regent Residences Kuala Lumpur

The Regent Residences Kuala Lumpur

One of the recent completed project that I can share with you. Took a bit of head banging here and there due to it’s one of my early AS3 projects so far. Enjoy! Should update this on my portfolio soon with other work for this year. Never realized that it has been almost the end of the year. Wondering how much have I been doing since then.

Update : 18th November 2008

Newer revision has been uploaded to the live site. Feel free to check out the new gallery section :)

WESATELLITES.COM

Phew, finally after days of sleepless night. Literally. This thing is born. Full blown AS3-ism. *Pats on my back*

http://www.wesatellites.com

Site mechanics? Was fortunate to play around with the AS3’s computeSpectrum inside. You can see real time visualisation of the song itself. Compiling time was a pain in the ass seriously when you have a lot of bad habit from AS2. You’ll get ton of undefined or unknown error. But for godness sake, I learnt the hard way and noticed there’s a lot of bad habit that I need to shave off. But the real challenge would lie on the full scale video itself. Didn’t really work initially as planned and a lot of stuff needs to be considered for performance when we scale everything up.

jumbleText Class (v1.0 11 June 2008)

jumbleText Class (v1.0 11 June 2008)
Hi there everyone, I’m hereby would like to share with you my first humble experience in creating a class for AS2.0, namely jumbleText.as which you can download at :
http://www.manmeng.net/fun/jumbleText.zip

What it does?
Takes up your text and jumble it up in a bunch of gibberish and then slowly forming it back to the original text. Look at…matrix? or http://www.yugop.com

How does it look?
Here I have setup a sample page : http://www.manmeng.net/fun/jumbleText.swf

What is this?!
It’s an experimentation that I did back then to incorporate to my long overdued portfolio site, but I felt it’s best I share it to see how I can improve from here.

How do I use it?
I’m trying my best to make it as dumbproof and easy for user, but at this point, here are what it is needed (refer to screenshot on top as well).

  • Create a new font and link to “myfont”
  • import com.manmeng.misc.io or import.com.manmeng.misc.*
  • use an empty movie clip, probably name it, such as “mc”
  • use this… io.jumbleText(movieClipName, yourText, width, height, textColor, textSize)

And then you are ready to rock! Hope you will enjoy it. Any bugs report or suggestion please mail it to siaukia [at gmail dot com. I will port thisto AS3 as well. Keep in tuned!

Hardboiled Vol.2

Whee, finally completed. It has been a rollercoaster ride with my fellow new colleague. Phew. I guess I’ll let the work do it’s introduction by itself. And enjoy ! in the meantime. It’s an online magazine (yes, some of you just say “again?”

This time around, we’re fortunate to call together this launch with Singapore’s Earth Hour. Will upload some picture later.

The main page. You can play around with these. If you want to know more perhaps you can look into the older issue.
