[Photography] Massive balloon of FAIL

If anyone of you did went to the Malaysia Hot Air Balloon Festival this year, I’m pretty sure that you shared the same sentiment as mine, especially if you are a first timer there. Call it a ranting post, but nothing can describe the utter-FAIL of this event compared to what I have seen in the previous year. A big F word to the organizer thank you.

First of all, the site itself, My Balloon Fiesta cease to work on the event date, which makes a lot of people having trouble to locate the exact venue. In turn, the archived page did help us to navigate poorly to the designated venue.

Located in Precinct 2, Putrajaya, Malaysia. The traffic was heavy and poorly managed from the entrance towards the exit, cars are parked virtually anywhere the tyres can roll. I really mean it, some even parked on top of the divider that you never expect a sedan can go through.

So with all the troubles of getting to the exact event itself, you only found to be sandwiched by a bunch of people with massive lenses and cameras and what-so-ever.

This and that

And of course there’s a lot of journal photographer.

Well, I left the place not long after 30 minutes of arrival only to know that there’s only several variation of hot air balloon designs. Probably the most unique one was the Levi’s – Jeans-alike-shaped balloon, from what I heard.

[Rant] My respond to “Can Flash be saved”

Can Flash Be Saved

As a fellow Flasher for almost…5 years (unofficially 12 years! First met Flash during their Flash 3 era), it absolutely boiled my blood just to read the thoughts on the blog post. I might be over-reacting, but it seems the trend crowrd now tend to over-hyping HTML5 like the goddess of their time and throwing shits on Flash like everything bad is made of them.

Read the heated discussion here.

And on a sidenote, a good move by the giant, Google.

Rejoice ladies!

I watched Avatar (again) 3D…

and I fell asleep half way through. Though I’m being really curious on how the movie would look like in 3D after watching it the first time.

It felt as if I’m watching it through a 100″ HDTV. The details are so surreal at times, until my eye can’t take the details anymore, and to a point, I feel asleep. Why you would ask? Perhaps I was too tired, perhaps I knew the storyline. But it surprised me that there isn’t any subtitle in the 3D cinemas, though there is the Papyrus-font translated Na’vi language. Now I wonder if it’s worth to pay the extra bucks to watch a movie in 3D?

It depends.

Why? This is because at most time when a movie, like this, are hard for you to differentiate if it’s 3D, when it isn’t filmed within a constrained space, like a hall or room, because I strongly felt I’m convinced it’s “real” when there’s a scene within a room/hall. I believed it would be another gimmick in 2010 that gets blown out of proportion and every director starts abusing it without knowing the purpose of doing it in 3D.

But there is one extra reason that can make you pay that much to go on a 3D cinema, when you doesn’t have a HDTV equipped LCD TV in your house. Yes, I can see the blisters and skins so clear in the movie that my eye was so tired to so focus on anything :P

Despite everyone condeming it on the storyline and everything else, I still like Avatar. It’s like childhood once again.

[Random] Toys for year end

It has been a while (again) that I paid some update on this blog while letting some of my adventures to langkawi/krabi/taiwan pictures collecting dust. But it must have been a very looong vacation for me since my trip back from Singapore.

Update 14/01/10: It appears that the speakers sucks as usual, much worse than first generation of iPhone. I know that iPod is meant to be used with earphones, but that does not warrant them to use such a terrible speaker that you can barely hear between I and Hi. Wtf.

Besides that, it works like charm, only not able to send SMS, do video recording and compass. Anymore?
Got this few days ago from Machines, The Gardens, Midvalley.

And if you watch Kamen Rider DCD, you might instantly recognize the trademark pink camera. Better known as BlackbirdFly. The holga flash and the 3-frame Actionsampler is all bought from Orchard Central, Singapore during Christmas. The guy in the shop quoted normal BBF at 180SGD while this one is around 220 (if I remembered correctly).

Happy new year1
