[Inspiration] 7 fan-made videos that is made of pure WIN

Sometimes I just do not understand what is in the head of the Hollywood writers or directors, especially when they want to deal with adaptation of videos games to the silver screen. They either screw it up, or fuck it up real bad. Literally. What puzzles me is they often have a big hoo-hah and marketing campaign to promote the movie and blew it out of propotion most of the time, in terms of distorting the fans, be it hard core or casual fan that the movie rocked big time (even though it sucks). Call this a ranting thread from a fan but I would like to show you more than useless rant, a clear comparison between fan-made videos that stayed true to the game essense to those feces that Hollywood churned out in the past years. And with all the ventures of online videos these days, it is really hard for the big movie studios to ignore all these fan-uploaded videos. Why? Because you will be surprised even for a $500 and a little bit of passion, a lot can be done, and outdone the big guys.

I would give my deepest respect to the creators of the video that took their time, effort and passion to make all this gem. It’s priceless. If you love video games, manga or anime. Please watch it. Though there are countless fan-made videos that has been created all this years and can be see on video sites like Youtube, I had chose some of the best and fine example in comparison to 4 failed example from the big guys. Enjoy reading!

Street Fighter : Legacy

Directed by Joey Ansah, one of the cast in The Bourne Ultimatum. An absolute digital-orgasm you can ever get as a fan of Street fighter. There are so many details that are taken into account, from casting to the smaller prints like costume and makeups. IGN conducted an interview with the director not too long after that. He did talk about how usually Hollywood would take a famous game and adapt it into movies, the bad way. Not sure when they will release a full length film? Bookmark Joey Ansah’s website.

Beginnings End

This is another fan-made tribute to Street Fighter, that is released around the same time as SF Legacy! A weird coincidence.

Dragonball

This Dragonball video that depicts a fight between Gohan, Android No. 17 and Android No. 18 has been out for a while, but it is no lesser than awesome.

Having seen all the videos above, I can’t help but to cry with blood in my tears seeing how after all these years, they still can’t learn on not to mess up a really good game/manga storyline and Hollywood-nized it. Below is 4 fine example of what has been wrong all the time. It is alright if it’s too pain to even watch through all the videos.

Dragonball : Evolution FAIL

The King of Fighters FAIL

The legend of Chun li FAIL
