[Travel] Part 1 of 8, Taiwan

It has been a year since this trip to Taiwan via Jetstar on June 2009.

There’s approximately around 700 images taken during the course of the trip and editing every single of it is exactly like what the cat felt above.

And of course you will start to even think why I even bother to share it after a year long period, well apparently it is my second trip to Taiwan which the first one was around year 2007…two year apart.

Afterall, it’s wonderful to be seeing such a place that boomed with energetic young people that we always hoped to lived in. Pictured above is the busy night market of Shilin.

Takeoff – Singapore

While I was still in Singapore last June, we booked a round trip ticket via Jetstar that costs around RM900 for two people.

Hotel around the Changi International airport.

We didn’t know where to exactly fly from, so we had to take a monorail transport to Terminal 1 instead.

Useful map depicting the layout of the airport.

Operating time for the Shuttle bus and monorail train.

Inside the train itself.

The are aplenty of screens showing departing and arrival times.

Old-school board.

Upon checking on the departing time, it seems there is a lot of people were taking the same flight to Taipei.

The Airbus.

No surprise that this plane looks exactly/almost like Tiger Airways’ or Air Asia’s.

Taking off! Along the Singapore shoreline. You can see a lot of cargo ships there. How ironic that they have to deal with the leaking oils now.

Up in the sky.

This is Taiwan.

It seems awfully similar to be here again.

And to my surprise as well, Canny can’t figure out what the first character meant, possibly a non-existent word from Simplified Chinese vocabulary.

Passing the immigration. And not to mention during the time of year, H1N1 is still on rampant where we were quite worried.

Seems like a lot of people having their mask on.

A left-handed driver seat!

The night snack haven, Shilin Night Market

First destination of the night, Shi-lin Night Market in the Shi-lin District, Taipei, Taiwan. Why so? The flights were late over the day and we had only 2 – 3 hours to spend for the first day, quite sad really.

And the ever first thing you get you surprised is the amount of motorbikes along the road.

The sheer amount of stalls and foods selling snacks can’t fail to amaze you really.

Fruits are everywhere as well.

And a must-try, their famous chicken fillet. You might really wonder since they have almost a very long queue every night. Especially during the weekends.

Not sure what this is but I missed the chance to try it out.

Looks like Roti Canai/Prata to me, but it’s something different.

Aside from these affordable and interesting food (note that I didn’t mention “very tasty”, but it’s good enough to satisfy hunger :P ), what makes this place to special?

Shopping!

If you notice that there are plenty of stores along the walkway on the left and right of you, and also on the middle of the road. But what makes these seller in the middle of road is a different one, they need to run as quickly as possible to avoid being caught of trading without license.

Along the quiet streets

Like what you would expect from a country that inspired by Japan a lot, the night alley looks chiller than what we offered back in our country.

But it is cool to see some familiar brand here in Taiwan that opens up to 24 hours.

Milk from the nearby convenience store.

And this MAAAAASSSIVE sized Heineken at a price cheaper than our large bottle of Heineken! Fuuu! That concludes the first night of a short trip to Taipei, Taiwan. More to come!
