[Tips] AS3 User location/country detector based on IP
I have wrote a script that automates the process of your project in detecting the user location based on their current IP address via maxmind’s Javascript API. What you will need to do is to
- See the demo below
- Get the source code
- Read the comment inside the FLA and start using it
What is this?
A simplified script that detects the visitor’s country and other details such as latitude/longtitude based on their current IP address.
Why is this necessary?
I felt that there is a need sometimes for us to automate the language selection or region selection process in some major big site that helps in cutting down user frustration through multiple clicks before going into the site. I figured this could be useful.
How to use it?
What you will need to do is to wait until the loading listener is completed before using it. Sample usage :
var userCountry:String = getCountryName();
Where to get the files?

[Flash] Chopping 3D Meshes in Papervision

SOUR ‘日々の音色 (Hibi no neiro)’
SOUR ‘日々の音色 (Hibi no neiro)’
It has been a freaking while since I have stumbled across really clever and inspiring music videos circa. Chemical Bros one (the one with the infinite train loop). You would definitely love all your minutes spent on this music video. Filmed entirely on webcam, the hardest part of this would be the planning stage in making this work seamlessly across the entire music video. Enjoy! One of the best inspiration you can get this week. via delicious.
[Inspiration] Inside Steve’s Brain
I have been reading a lot in the past few month, particularly at those books like the one on top. Partially motivational and also practical, it’s really even a miracle for me to pick up a book and spend some time in understanding it. It’s definitely a great book for those whole is lost in what they are doing or wondering if they are doing good enough compared to the rest. The cliche about this part is that tuckloong is reading the translated chinese version of it in the recent month! That’s really funny considering I have been looking for this book for a long time and finally bought it in Taiwan. I hope you would really enjoy it much as a I do, would definitely do more book recommendation in the future.
