Driving Myself Crazy!
South Visits
It’s been more than 2 month since I’m kinda like MIA from the blog posts, due to work and lot of stuff that happened unexplained. But all is well, it seems. And of course on the other hand, got my blog template screwed that left me demotivated to fix it for a while. What’s happening since then for the past 2 month? Lots and lots and I’ll be glad to share what is going to come the next 2 month.

My parents had a chance to drop by Singapore for a visit since 30 years ago.

Had seafood at NO SIGNBORD SEAFOOD at Geylang. Not too shabby, it’s actually not bad.

I think it should be easily spotted by you if you ever go by Geylang for food…i mean, real food.

Boat Quay, and until now I had no freaking idea why the word Quay is pronounced as “key” instead of “kueh”?

And well, it’s definitely around the early of August which you can see from the pictures are rehearsals of their National Day Parade, which better known as NDP. Located at the south of the island itself, it’s my really first time seeing the lion spitting waters.

This is somewhere near the famous Business District, or also nearby Lau Pa Sat (old market) which is a big foodcourt contains lots of stalls and satays. Their satay stalls has menus as well!

On the other hand, had some chance to watch “Chi-Bee”, which left most of the viewers undesirably pissed off by their movie finished prematurely until next year, a sequel. Note it’s GV, instead of our TGV. Weird eh.

Back in home

And at times, I’d still go back home over the weekend, and realized how messed up my ATM came to be, after it’s like….6-7 years? But I’m still suprised that it’s working after it’s in that condition. However I’m delighted that the cost of changing the card itself is only RM10, and now it’s debit card instead. Quite cool. And for your information, if you ever want to change your ATM cards, Maybank is now also operational on Weekends at shopping malls like Sunway Pyramid or Midvalley. Neat.

This is the Old Penang Kafe? The Red Ruby, more like the Cendol’s close cousin. The red stuff tastes like raisins.

This is the Penang version? But I personally still favours the Malacca one.

Goh-Hiong is what this is known as? (Hokkien) . More like a fried-Pohpiah.
And back to work again

This is one of the famous spot in Singapore which it’s a mall known as Bugis junction, well, they had quite a lot of food courts nearby and also small concerts normally held here. More like…autograph session?

This is one of the quite unusual place I stumbled upon in SG. And apparently there’s a lot of upper-upper-upper class citizen chilling out here though. It’s quite shaky on my hand, but you can see from the pictures of the cars they had.

Though it might looks sophisticated, but by printing black on a recycled paper doesn’t seem to do much justice on this place, it’s damn freaking hard to read on that menu! And I haven’t talk about the typography legibility yet!

This is one of the restaurant I had a chance to go in for a farewell party for one of my company’s colleague.

If I’m not mistaken of its name, it’s known as Barrack which they literally took an old army barrack and turn it into an eatery.

And lots of cuisine I have never seen before? 1 metre long…

The sign outside of the place.

This is one of the local delight that I had never heard of back then, but probably it does exist, just that I didn’t notice it. What’s this? MILO DINASOUR!!! And apparently they also had MILO GODZILLA as well, go figure.

Meet Eski!
And back in klang again!

Was waiting right in front of Klang’s KTM station, and I’ve noticed few case study here can be made. Well actually not really a case study but i think it does help for me to make decision in design more precisely? See the OCBC building in red bright white colour? And in comparison to the other older buildings? It seems older buildings tends to have hues that is closely relate to each other and pastel-like? While to create a more modern and contrasting look, you need to have something like…less colours…but must have either white or black as the base?

Older buildings, and it seems every single one of it has different design.
The honor

It has always been circulating around my ear that to win an award like Webby is like getting and Emmy or Grammy in the entertainment industry. And I can say I’m fortunate enough to live and see the real life award itself right in front of me.

This should give me more inspiration to work harder.
Procrastinating

No it’s not me, the cat, lived next to the office I’m working.

I think this is the male one. The owner had 3 cats with ribbons on their neck.

One of the private residence outside the office.

From the opposite of the road.

Okonomyaki, it’s actually the pizza-like noodle thingy from Hokkaido japan. Correct me if I’m wrong. Looks good, tastes normal.

Cha-shu Ramen.

I had no idea what these fluffy beans are. And they’re soaked with sugars.
Fuu-yoh!

One of the limited edition toys made for DiGi.

And the illustration style really reminds me of 1000tentacles. Does it?

Some kind of event by Swarovski. The one performing in the middle looks…lonely.

Mee siam, tastes sweet and sour.
DIY your food.

It’s one of the end of weekday, which the bosses got all of us together for a gathering and DIY day for our lunch, and at the same time, it’s near the eve of our independence day itself as well.

And of course some of us which are Malaysian are invited to sing a long the national anthem.

Which not long after that opening ceremony, the DIY session starts!

How does my Poppiah looks like?

AIIIII-foooooooneeeee cheeee juuuuu!!!! But it’s not mine.

Some kind of cupcake, popiah style.
Roadtrip to North

Of course probably like 2 weeks back, had a chance to go back somewhere in the north of our country for some dinner. And stumbled across this interesting car. What’s tied down there? Make a wild guess.

And it’s been like more than 10 years since my last time stepped onto the land of rain, Taiping.

And also had lodging booked. Looks…dodgy isn’t it?

Until I stepped into the place, I was utterly speechless by the amount of furnitures inside.

I would able to categorize this place as part of museum.

The infamous shop that sells their Keow Teow Soup beside a gold shop, known as ”Jing-Bien”.

A visit back to the old school in Taiping, Hua Lian?

This does brings back a lot of nostalgia.

Taiping Park

And the last time I was here, I never realized that how beautiful this place can be in comparison to all these other park that I had been to. And of course you will also spot a lot of monkeys lingering around.

Towards Kuala Sepetang

This is the long stretch along Taiping towards this small village known as Kuala Sepetang, famous for it’s local delicacies like Laksa. And along the road on the left/right hand side, are those Kayu-Balak which we always use to burn for BBQ usage. Charcoal?

Just in case if you’re drunk, the extra large signboard can avoid you from banging into people’s house.
Maxwell Hill

Also known as the Coffee Hill to locals here.

Fuu-Yoh Part 2

This time around, I’m fortunate to be part of the team to be involved in a project to deal with this brand. Can’t reveal much at the moment but I can’t keep from being in awed of this cool office.

The lobby. Looks really different from the usual corporate building you have ever been to.

Free seatings.

And I was informed of this stairs where childrens is involved in creating the art on the wall.

The canteen!

Look at the rainforests behind. I mean.

And this somewhere I was suprised that I never stumbled to this place before known as Jaya One. Another commercial centre but it’s somehow really has all those facilities for MNC company and expats. Quite nice, but of course pricey for locals.
